Just to let you all know that the Game Of Skate this Sunday at The Works will be a competition.

Alright dudes, check the flyer!
We are having a Jam at the works skatepark in Leeds on Saturday March 1st 6pm-late *FREE ENTRY FOR ALL*
The idea is to have a contest with teams (gangs) 4-6 members in each team who all ride together as a team in their run. We'l have round 1 then a final where winners take all and are crowned Champion Gangbangers 2008. Stacks of prizes from Attila//4Down Distro//United//Dig Magazine//Bicycle Union//Carhartt.
We'l have a PA system blasting out the tracks of your choice! All teams who want to enter need to do is:

TEAM NAME
TEAM MEMBERS (4-6 members only)
MUSIC (x2 tracks which you want playing during your runs, just give us the artist name and track title, don't try send mp3's)

This is not a PRO only contest or anything like that, no criteria so just get your mates together and send it!

Do we have to be members of the park?
Not on this night, no!
Do we have to wear helmets?
If your gonna send it, stick one on.
Do our bikes need brakes?

Not sure if you caught it or not, but The Works was featured on the BBC the other night. Give it watch by clicking the image below. It is twenty minutes in to the episode. Just move the little thing across and it will stream. So it will load up fast.
Check back in a couple days, the site is going to get a big update.

This sunday (8th October) the Nike SB International Team acopanied by many of the Nike SB UK team will be coming to the works, as part of their European Tour. This is the only UK Demo so make sure you are there. They will be turning up at 4pm and normal skatepark prices apply. See you there.

nike sb demo!
That's right. The rumours can now be confirmed. The ONLY Nike SB demo in the UK will be happening right here at The Works on Sunday 8th October. There are still a few details to be confirmed
but it looks like P. Rod, Brian Anderson, Weiger van Wageningen, Daniel Shimizu and new Nike SB Pro Stefan Janowski will be present along with most of the Nike SB UK team (there is a lot of them!). Keep checking the site for confirmation.

The park is now open. Some small areas are still sectioned off and the cafe is not open. But otherwise everything is back to normal.

see the damage
Here are three photos to show you just how bad the rain got in. Click on them to see full image.
The puddles have just about dried up, however the water seems to have gathered under the ramps where there are electrical wires so there will be no electricity until these have dried up. Shouldn't be too long until the park is open again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

rain, rain, go away!
Because of the severe rainfall the roof of the skatepark has broken in places and the park has been flooded. Therefore the park will be closed for a few days until we get the problem fixed. Keep checking on here to hear when the park will be open again. Sorry.

welcome!
Yes! You 'eard. Welcome to the brand new, completely re-built and updated 'The Works website'. Not only is it a lot more simple to use and nicer to look at, but there is also loads of new content to be discovered.
On the video page we have edits of the Santa Cruz demo and volume two of local skateboarders at the works. The photography page has sequences from the globe demo, featuring Mark Appleyard and Paul Machnau, as well as a ridiculous sequence of Conhuir Lynn from the Zero demo. You may notice around the site there are new features such as the 'submit your own photo'. Be sure to give these a look and join in.
As well as making a whole new website, we also have a whole new forum. This forum is a lot better in many different ways, sorry for the inconvenience this will cause to existing members who will have to re-register, but it is well worth it. It is especially worth joining the forum as we will be hosting special forum members only competitions and there will also be members only video footage.
Be sure to look at the updated skatepark page and have a look inside the skatepark, even if you've seen it before; there is treasure to be found.
The video coverage of the recent Blueprint demo is coming soon. Along with some other goodies.
